Simple Radiant Electric Charge Detector
When working with radiant energy and electric fields this simple electronic electroscope will detect a positive or negative charge that is near by. Using a FE Transistor and with (or without) an antenna this device will indicate both positive and negative charge on devices as far away as 10 to 15 feet.
Example: Peel a few inches of tape off a roll of tape and hold it near the circuit. The LED will show that the tape is strongly electrified. Hold the circuit in your hand, stand on a rug, then jump up and down. The LED will flash on and off. Walk around, and the same thing happens. As your shoe make contact with the rug and then peel away from it, your entire body becomes electrified. This makes the sensor respond. And when jumping, if you place your shoes back onto the oppositely electrified footprints, you cancel out the net electric charge and the sensor indicates another polarity change. Scuff your shoes, stomp up and down, jump around, and the sensor will flash wildly.
